Cleveland’s Playhouse Square

Too many theaters to count plus a really big chandelier

Located in downtown Cleveland on Euclid Avenue, Playhouse Square is home to a large collection of theater spaces ranging from under 200 seats to over 3,000. It’s also where you’ll find “the world’s largest permanent outdoor chandelier”.

Playhouse Square includes these performing arts venues:

  • the 500 seat Allen Theatre
  • the 550 seat Hanna Theatre hosts the Great Lakes Theater
  • the historic Mimi Ohio Theatre
  • the KeyBank State Theatre, largest of the bunch at 3,200 seats
  • the Connor Palace
  • the relatively tiny (150 seats) Westfield Studio Theatre
  • the “highly flexible” Outcalt Theatre

They’re all bunched together in a large block that consumes about 14 acres of downtown Cleveland, between 13th Street and 17th Street. A parking garage is located on the north side of the complex, on Chester Avenue.

And then there’s that chandelier. The GE Chandelier is suspended above Euclid Avenue on the south side of Playhouse Square. It consists of 4,200 crystals and 68 LED lights. It’s hanging from a 44-foot tall structure that spans the intersection of Euclid and 14th Street.
